NCAA Banned Drugs and Medical Exceptions Policy

Beginning in August of 2009, The NCAA applied a more strict policy in regard to medical exemptions for specific banned substances when a student-athlete presents a positive drug test. Click here for the NCAA Banned Drugs and Medical Exceptions Policy. Random drug testing may take place at any time during the year for all levels of NCAA participation as well as during post season play. Certain prescribed medications used for evaluated and documented medical conditions may result in a positive drug test due to the medication being included on the NCAA banned substance list. The following links and information will help ensure that each student-athlete at Wesleyan has submitted the appropriate documentation to facilitate exemptions when necessary.

It is the responsibility of the student athlete to read all of the following information and complete any and all of the information necessary as indicated by the NCAA. For specific examples of appropriate use and documentation of banned substances, please click here.

It is the responsibility of the student - athlete to answer all questions on the medical history forms as completely and honestly as possible and to make sure that all required documentation is provided to the athletic training staff before participation takes place.
