14 Student-Athletes Elected into Phi Beta Kappa

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Fourteen senior student-athletes have been elected into Wesleyan University's Gamma Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa for Spring 2019 – the most prestigious academic honor society in the country. They will be honored at an induction ceremony on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel.

Representing Wesleyan Athletics are Erin Angell of women's swimming and diving (ECON, PYSC), Sydney Forrest of women's track & field (MATH), Sarah Goss of women's ice hockey (BIOL, PSCY), Eleanor Highleyman of women's crew (ENGL), Evan Hull of football (ECON), Sophia Linguiti of women's soccer (NS&B), Chad Malinowski of men's ice hockey and men's lacrosse (COMP, ECON, MATH), Zach Murillo of wrestling (ECON, MATH), Vabuk Pahari of men's squash (COMP, MATH), Sarah Paulson of women's crew (BIOL), Claudia Schatz of women's cross country and track & field (FRST), Ella Sinfield of women's soccer (ECON, PSYC), Chris White of men's ice hockey and golf (BIOL, NS&B), and Victoria Yu of women's tennis (CHEM, MB&B).

Of the 14 student-athletes, six served as team captains this year – Goss, Hull, Linguiti, Malinowski (two-sport captain), Murillo, and Yu – while Malinowski won a national championship with the men's lacrosse team last spring, Murillo qualified for the NCAA Championships this winter, and Yu has won three national titles and five All-American honors.
