HADLEY, Mass. – Marco Baratta '16 of the Wesleyan University baseball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, following his impressive performance in the three game series against NESCAC and Little Three rival Amherst College, which saw the Cardinals win two out of the three games.
Baratta batted an impressive .400 with a .800 slugging percentage. In Friday's 13-5 win, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. During Saturday's 4-3 win, the senior scored a run during the three-run fourth inning that erased Amherst's 3-0 lead. Wesleyan went on to win the game in extra innings to clinch the No. 1 seed in the West Division. His .436 batting average ranks first in the conference, while his three home runs rank fifth. His four RBIs over the weekend puts his season total at 37, which ranks second in the league.
The Cardinals will return to the diamond tomorrow, May 3, as they will take on non-conference opponent MIT at 4 p.m.
