The Lead: The Wesleyan University field hockey team dropped their 2016 season opener to No. 16 Babson College on Friday night by a score of 5-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Cardinals were able to hold the Beavers scoreless in the first half, as freshman goaltender Delaney Wood made three saves in net.
  • Babson would notch the first goal at the 36:51 mark as Staci Swallow took an Ashley Tango pass and found the back of the net.
  • Cici Frattasio '18 scored the first Wesleyan goal of the season to tie the game at one with 40:20 on the clock.
  • The Beavers would rattle off four straight goals, with Tango notching two goals and Elise Towers scoring the other two goals for Babson.
  • Babson would go onto claim the 5-1 victory.

  • The Cardinals will return to action on Sunday, September 11 against No. 9 Wellesley College at 12 p.m.
  • The Beavers will host Endicott tomorrow, September 10 at 2 p.m.
