Ardente, who hails from Providence, R.I., was one of 242 student-athletes from Division III institutions across the country to win this award, as 105 schools were represented. The requirement for winning this honor is difficult, as the student-athlete must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year.

Ardente started all 15 games during her senior season for the Cardinals, making life difficult for opposing offensive players with her lockdown defensive mentality.
