Field Hockey Places 14 Student-Athletes on NFHCA National Academic Team

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan University field hockey team placed 14 student-athletes on the 2017 Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday.

The prerequisite for this award is that the individual must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year. For the Cardinals, seniors Lily Ardente, Brooke Hodgson and Tess Iannarone were named to the National Academic Team for the fourth time in their outstanding collegiate careers.

In total, over 1,700 student-athletes from the Division III landscape earned this achievement, as Haverford led the way with 23 selections, and Middlebury compiled the most in the NESCAC with 22.

Wesleyan also placed the following athletes on the National Academic Team in sophomores Rachel Curran, Kayla Di Sibio, Erica Horowitz, Abby Manning, Rachel Pomerantz, Maddie Shea and Claire Taub, freshmen Liz Colannino, Nia Eddy-Pina and Amy Schaap, and junior Meghan Jain.
