The Wesleyan Men's Basketball team rebounded nicely from their loss last night as they defeated Clark University 67-81 in the Herb-Kenny Tip-Off Classic Consolation game.

Wesleyan took a while to get started as Clark built a seven point lead in the early stages of the first half. Wesleyan was able to slowly chip away at the lead with solid defense and timely scoring. Wesleyan regained the lead on a Jordan Bonner layup, which put the Cardinals up 16-15 with eleven minutes to play in the half. Clark did not go away, as they quickly regained the lead with free throws by Tyler Huffman. His foul shots were able to give Clark a 18-16 lead with just over nine minutes to play.

The first half saw six ties, but it was Wesleyan who went to the locker room with a 37-39 lead thanks to a jumper by BJ Davis, who finished the game with a team high 23 points, 10 of those coming in the first half. Harry Rafferty lead the Cardinals in first half scoring with 11 points and finished second on the team in scoring for the game with 20 points.

Clark's first half scoring was lead by Tyler Huffman and Luca McCormick, who had nine points each.

The second half began much like the first half, with both teams refusing to allow the other to build a comfortable lead. Wesleyan was able to slowly build a lead thanks to a three-pointer by Jack Mackey and Joseph Kuo free throws, which built the Wesleyan lead to seven at the 16:28 make, but much like the first half, Clark wouldn't go away, and by 14:05, Wesleyan had a one point lead. The game remained close as the teams tied for the eighth time at 54 all with 9:26 remaining in the game. It was at that point Wesleyan built a lead that they would not relinquish, as they went on a 10-0 run thanks to Bonner, Davis and Jordan Sears who contributed all ten points during that run. Wesleyan's lead would get up to 16, and they would go onto win 67-81.

Clark was lead by McCormick who finished the game with 18 points and Huffman who had 17. Huffman was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Davis was also named to the All-Tournament team for Weselyan.

Wesleyan next plays Bard College on the road on Tuesday November 24 at 7PM.
