The Wesleyan Men's Basketball team defeated Bard College 80-74 on Tuesday night behind 31 points by BJ Davis '16.
The Cardinals (2-1) got down early as they were trailing by as many as 13 at 28-15 with seven minutes to go before halftime. After that however, the Cardinals got hot on the offensive end as they made their next 10 shots and closed the margin to 38-37 at the half.
The Cardinals took the lead on their first possession of the half on a 3-point play by Rashid Epps '16, and they never looked back. In the first seven minutes of the half the Cardinals outscored Bard (1-1) 20-5 with Davis scoring ten of the Cardinals 20 points during that run. Bard didn't go away, as they slowly chipped away at the Cardinal lead, closing to within two with six minutes left to go. Bard was able to keep the game close until the end, but the Cardinals refused to give up the lead, keeping the lead at six for the majority of the game from that point on. The Cardinals made their free throws at the end, making seven out of their last ten attempts to help secure the 80-74 victory. Epps finished second on the team with 13 points and was also able to grab nine rebounds. Bard was led in scoring by Emmanuel Rainey who scored 25 points off the bench.
The Cardinals return to action Saturday November 28 against Clarkson University at the Union City Classic. Tip is a 5PM.
