MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Senior guard Harry Rafferty of the Wesleyan University men's basketball team was named a Fourth Team All-Northeast Region selection by D3hoops.com for his stellar performance throughout the 2016-17 season.
The Portsmouth, N.H. native, who was also named a Second Team All-NESCAC selection, played an instrumental role in the team's success this year as the Cardinals finished 19-7 overall en route to an at-large bid in the NCAA Championships.
Rafferty led the team in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game, and started all 26 contests for the Cardinals. He shot 38.8% (66-170) from downtown and 77% (47-61) from the free-throw line. The senior also dished out 2.2 assists per game.
He scored in double-figures in eight of the team's last nine games down the stretch, and in Wesleyan's NCAA First Round game against Union (N.Y.), the lefty sharp-shooter finished with a team-high 24 points as he went 5-of-11 from three-point range.
Rafferty became a member of the 1,000-point club this year and finished his career tied for 11th all-time in the Wesleyan men's basketball record book with 1,129 points.
