  • No. 14 Wesleyan to Play Little Three Rival Amherst in NESCAC Semifinals Saturday
    February 22, 2018
    Wesleyan (20-5)—seeded fourth in the NESCAC Men’s Basketball Championships and ranked No. 14 nationally—will play at top-seeded Amherst (17-8) this Saturday, Feb. 24 in the conference semifinals beginning at 5:30 p.m. in LeFrak Gymnasium. The winner of Saturday’s showdown will advance to the finals where they will face the winner of No. 2 Williams (20-5) versus No. 3 Hamilton (22-3) on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 2:30 p.m.
  • Sears and O’Brien Lead Second Half Rally as No. 4 Wesleyan Defeats No. 5 Middlebury, 73-65

    The fourth-seeded Wesleyan University men’s basketball team advanced to the NESCAC Semifinals following an impressive second half rally led by Jordan Sears ’18 and Kevin O’Brien ’19 as the Cardinals defeated fifth-seeded Middlebury College, 73-65, on Saturday afternoon in a packed Silloway Gymnasium.

    Junior guard Jordan Bonner of the 14th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week for his stellar performance during a 3-1 stretch that included back-to-back conference wins over Bates and Tufts, respectively. Monday’s announcement by the league office marks his second weekly honor this season.

    Jordan Bonner '19 hit a pair of free throws to tie the game at 68-68 with only 0.06 on the clock, but Michael Soffer of Purchase College caught an inbounds pass that was thrown the length of the court and instantly got the shot off as he banked in the buzzer-beater to defeat the No. 14 Wesleyan University men's basketball team, 71-68 on Monday night.

    Freshman Austin Hutcherson was a perfect 5-of-5 from three-point range and finished with a game-high 19 points, and seniors JR Bascom and Nathan Krill each recorded double-doubles to help lead the 14th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to an impressive road win over Little Three archrival Amherst College, 70-66.

    The 14th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team came up short against 18th-ranked Hamilton College on the road Friday night, 76-70. The Cardinals, led by freshman guard Antone Walker’s 17 points off the bench, drop to 10-3 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC. The win for the Continentals’ keeps Hamilton’s unbeaten streak intact as it improves to 13-0 overall and 2-0 in league play.

    The 14th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team defeated No. 4 Middlebury College Saturday afternoon in Silloway Gymnasium, 80-70. Three players scored in double-figures for the Cardinals, who led most of the game, as they improve to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the NESCAC. Following the loss, the Panthers drop to 8-3 on the season and 1-1 in league play.

    Friday night’s NESCAC opener featured another overtime thriller between Little Three archrivals Wesleyan University and Williams College, however, the 11th-ranked Ephs came out on top this time as they overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the 14th-ranked Cardinals, 76-68. The loss is the first for Wesleyan in Silloway Gymnasium this season as it drops to 9-2 overall and 0-1 in league play. Williams is now 10-2 on the year and 1-0 in the conference. It was the second meeting between the two programs this year with the Cardinals claiming a 72-67 win in OT on Dec. 2 in Williamstown, Mass.
  • Wesleyan Drops First Game of Season to Springfield, 72-67

    The 12th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team lost its first game of the 2017-18 season Sunday night against Springfield College, 72-67, at the Hampton Inn West Springfield/Naismith Classic. The Cardinals won at least nine-straight games to open the year for the second consecutive season—they won 11 in a row last year—and are now 9-1 overall. With the win, the Pride improves to 6-5.

    Nathan Krill ’18 led all players with 17 points and nine rebounds to help lead the 12th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to a 79-62 win over Fitchburg State Saturday night at the Springfield/Naismith Classic hosted by Springfield College.
  • Hutcherson Scores 27 as Cardinals Rally to Defeat Brandeis, 71-61

    The 18th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team overcame an early 15-0 deficit to rally and defeat Brandeis University on Saturday afternoon, 71-61. Freshman Austin Hutcherson finished with a season-high 27 points as he went 7-of-9 from downtown.
  • Cardinals Win Seventh in a Row, Defeat Vassar 83-68

    Jordan Bonner '18 led the way with a game-high 21 points as the No. 18 Wesleyan University men’s basketball team defeated Vassar College Wednesday night, 83-68. The Cardinals remain perfect this year with a 7-0 record while the Brewers remain winless and drop to 0-7 on the season.

    Jordan Bonner ’18 scored a game-high 22 points, including six in overtime, to help lead the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to a thrilling 72-67 win on the road against No. 3 Williams College Saturday night. The game, which does not count towards the NESCAC standings, featured 14 ties and 14 lead changes with the largest margin a six-point Wesleyan lead in the opening minutes.
  • Wesleyan Extends Win Streak with 88-68 Victory Over Emmanuel

    The Wesleyan University men’s basketball team, led by junior guard Jordan Bonner’s 21 points, rolled over Emmanuel College Tuesday night, 88-68. Bonner was 7-of-10 from the floor as the Cardinals improved to a perfect 5-0. With the loss, the Saints are now 1-3 this season.

Four players scored in double-figures for the Cardinals as they improved to 4-0 overall while handing the Valiants their first loss (3-1).

  • Wesleyan Wins Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament, Cruises Past Mitchell 107-64

    Nathan Krill ’18 recorded a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds in 20 minutes of action to help guide the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to a decisive 107-64 win over Mitchell College as the Cardinals claimed the 2017 Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament title. Krill was named Tournament MVP and Kevin O’Brien ’19 was named to the All-Tournament Team as Wesleyan improved to 2-0 on the year. The Mariners are now 1-1.
  • Bonner Drops 19 as Wesleyan Defeats Anna Maria in Season Opener, 74-61
