  • Austin Hutcherson Named NESCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

    Austin Hutcherson of the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as selected by the league office and announced Monday. Hutcherson was terrific last week as he helped guide the Cardinals to back-to-back wins over top-25 opponents.
  • Hutcherson Hits Game-Winner as Wesleyan Defeats No. 24 Amherst, 62-60

    With the game tied at 60-60 and only 11 seconds remaining, Austin Hutcherson took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the court before knocking down the game-winner off the glass with 0:03.1 on the clock. Grant Robinson had a chance to win the game with a deep 3-pointer, but it hit the back of the rim and nearly missed as the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team held on to defeat Little Three rival and No. 24 Amherst College, 62-60 on Saturday afternoon in Silloway Gymnasium.

    Trailing by nine at halftime, Austin Hutcherson scored 24 points in the final 20 minutes of regulation to led the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to a 73-69 thrilling victory over previously undefeated and nationally-ranked No. 6 Hamilton College on Friday night in Silloway Gymnasium.

  • Hutcherson Helps Lead Wesleyan Past Western New England, 80-72

    Austin Hutcherson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to an 80-72 win over Western New England in the Championship Game of the Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament (sponsored by the Red Lion Hotel Cromwell) on Saturday afternoon. Hutcherson was named the Tournament MVP and freshman Gab Ravetz claimed All-Tournament honors with 17 points off the bench, including two clutch 3-pointers down the stretch to help seal the win.
  • Men's Basketball Cruises to 91-51 Win Over Becker in Season-Opener

    The Wesleyan University men's basketball team cruised to a commanding 91-51 win over Becker College Friday night in the team's 2018-19 season-opener. The Cardinals, who were led by Antone Walker's 21 points, advance to the Championship Game of the annual Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament (sponsored by the Red Lion Hotel Cromwell) and will play Western New England tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Silloway Gymnasium.
  • Wesleyan Men's Basketball Hosts Second Annual Coaches Clinic

    On Sunday, Nov. 4, Wesleyan University men's basketball Head Coach Joe Reilly held his second annual clinic in Silloway Gymnasium for members of the surrounding community. Over 100 local youth coaches, parents, and players filled the bleachers to watch the Cardinals go through a live practice as Coach Reilly explained the philosophy of his program.  The open practice was followed by a 30-minute Q & A session.

    The Wesleyan University men’s basketball team has released its schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 campaign. Entering an 11th season under Head Coach Joe Reilly, this year’s Cardinals look to continue to build on what was the most successful season in program history.
