  • Hutcherson Named NABC and D3hoops.com Second Team All-Region

    Sophomore guard Austin Hutcherson of the Wesleyan men’s basketball team added two more postseason accolades to his resume on Wednesday as he was named a 2019 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Second Team selection, as well as a 2019 D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region Second Team honoree.
  • Bonner Named NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year; Hutcherson Earns First Team Honors

    Senior guard Jordan Bonner of the Wesleyan men’s basketball team was named the 2019 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, and sophomore guard Austin Hutcherson earned First Team honors, as voted on by the league’s coaches and announced Wednesday by the conference office.
  • Bonner Named CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District®

    Senior guard Jordan Bonner of the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team has been named a 2018-19 First Team Academic All-District® honoree, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. The honor marks the second of his career, as Bonner was also named a first-team selection a year ago.

    The Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (16-8, 6-4 NESCAC) earned the six-seed in the 2019 NESCAC Championships and will play third-seeded Amherst College (20-4, 7-3 NESCAC) on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Feb. 23 at the highest remaining seed in the tournament, with the finals set for Feb. 24.
  • Bonner Joins 1,000-Point Club as Wesleyan Defeats Bowdoin to Secure NESCAC Tournament Berth

    Jordan Bonner etched his name in the Wesleyan record books on Senior Day Saturday as the Houston, Texas native became the 24th player in Cardinals’ men’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points, as he helped guide Wesleyan to a commanding 91-65 victory over Bowdoin. With the win, the Cardinals secured a spot in the NESCAC Tournament.

    The 25th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s basketball team trailed by 20 at halftime but the Cardinals rallied in the second half and took a 69-66 lead with 3:32 remaining. However, two clutch 3-pointers by Brennan Morris helped seal the win for Tufts University as the Jumbos held on for the win, 75-71 on Saturday afternoon in Cousens Gym.

    With the game tied at 60-60 and only 11 seconds remaining, Austin Hutcherson took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the court before knocking down the game-winner off the glass with 0:03.1 on the clock. Grant Robinson had a chance to win the game with a deep 3-pointer, but it hit the back of the rim and nearly missed as the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team held on to defeat Little Three rival and No. 24 Amherst College, 62-60 on Saturday afternoon in Silloway Gymnasium.

  • Hutcherson Helps Lead Wesleyan Past Western New England, 80-72

    Austin Hutcherson scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead the Wesleyan University men’s basketball team to an 80-72 win over Western New England in the Championship Game of the Herb Kenny Tip-Off Tournament (sponsored by the Red Lion Hotel Cromwell) on Saturday afternoon. Hutcherson was named the Tournament MVP and freshman Gab Ravetz claimed All-Tournament honors with 17 points off the bench, including two clutch 3-pointers down the stretch to help seal the win.
