Location: Medford, Mass. (Malden River)
Date: Saturday, April 15, 2017
The Lead: The Wesleyan University men's crew competed against Bates College, the University of New Hampshire and Tufts University Saturday morning, and picked up wins in the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 against UNH.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:

  • In the head-to-head matchup against the Wildcats in the Varsity 8, the Cardinals' boat edged UNH as it crossed the finish line in 6:06. The Wildcats finished five seconds later in the 2000m race with a time of 6:11
  • Wesleyan also picked up a victory in the 2nd Varsity 8 as its boat finished 16 seconds ahead of UNH. The Cardinals placed in 6:06, while the Wildcats crossed the line in 6:22.

HEAD COACH PHIL CARNEY:

  • "The crews moved through the early racing with relative ease, and were able to execute their race plans well. In the second round, Bates was able to take charge of the middle thousand and showed why they are one of New England's best. Our guys know that we have challenging racing ahead this season, and I think our response to today's loss will be strong."

UP NEXT:

  • Wesleyan returns to action Saturday, April 22 and will compete against Williams on Onota Lake in Pittsfield, Mass.
