Men’s Crew Places Seventh Overall at National Invitational Rowing Championships

The Lead: The Wesleyan University men's crew wrapped up its 2016-17 season Friday at the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. The Cardinals finished seventh overall out of 18 programs with a total of 43 points.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The Cardinals placed three boats in the regatta Friday – the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 8.
  • In its first heat of the 2V8, the Cardinals finished second in the five-boat field with a time of 6:13.895 to advance to the grand finals. The crew finished sixth in the GF with a time of 6:17.003, while Hobart won with a mark of 6:04.744.
  • In the grand final of the 3V8, Wesleyan placed sixth with a mark of 6:32.224.
  • The Cardinals' V8 placed third in its first heat out of six boats with a mark of 6:00.142. In the petite final, they finished second behind Bucknell with a time of 6:13.112. Bucknell won the six-crew field by crossing the finish line in 6:09.466.
