WORCESTER, Mass. – Wesleyan University men's crew finished seventh overall out of 23 programs in the team point standings at the 2018 New England Rowing Championship Saturday in Worcester, Mass. The Cardinals competed in the Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8 and 3rd Varsity, reaching the Grand Final in both the 2V8 and 3V8.
Wesleyan finished seventh with 52.40 points. Boston College won the regatta with 71.20 points followed by Bates (70.29) and Williams (66.85).
- Wesleyan's 2V8 boat highlighted the day as the Cardinals finished second overall with a time of 6:12.796, ahead of Tufts who finished third in 6:14.988. Bates claimed the race as it crossed the finish line in 6:04.824.
- In the 3V8, Wesleyan took fifth overall, ahead of Boston College's "B" boat, with a time of 6:32.160.
- The Cardinals' V8 boat finished fourth in their heat to qualify for the petite final, where they would finish fourth once again out of six boats. Wesleyan finished shortly after Coast Guard and narrowly edged Colby as the Cardinals posted a time of 6:11.800 and the Mules finished in 6:11.968.
- Wesleyan will compete in the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Friday, May 11 in Worcester, Mass.
