Experienced Squad Leads Wesleyan Golf in 2016-17

SEASON OUTLOOK

The Wesleyan University golf team opens its 2016-17 season - the eighth under Head Coach Jeff Gilarde - this weekend with the Bill Detrick Invitational at the Indian Hill Country Club in Newington, Conn. The Cardinals have a wealth of experience this season, with a roster that will feature four seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and two freshman. Zach Lambros '17 has been named the team captain and looks to lead Wesleyan in his final year with the program.

Following the two-day Bill Detrick Invitational, the team will head to Middlebury, Vt. for the Duke Nelson Invitational at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday. Oct. 18. The Cardinals wrap up the month of September with the two-day Williams Fall Invite beginning Saturday, Sept. 24, and will conclude their fall schedule with the NESCAC Qualifier (10/1-10/2), hosted by Middlebury.

MEET THE TEAM

The senior class consists of Lambros, Jared Fineberg, Tucker Ingraham and Colin O'Keeffe. Lambros finished the 2015-16 season strong and led the Cardinals at the Williams Spring Invite with a two-day score of 170 (86-84).

The junior class will feature Emmet Daly, Giselle Reyes, Joshua Rubin and Theo Tydingco. Daly played a significant role last season for the Cardinals and looks to build on his sophomore success.

Also returning to the Wesleyan lineup in 2016-17 will be sophomore Luke Babcock, while classmates Cameron McCusker and Christopher White make their debuts. Gilarde will also welcome two freshman; Saadia Naeem and Elliot Witdorchic.
