Jeff Gilarde joined the athletic golf staff in 2003 as an assistant. He was elevated to associate head coach in 2008, was named co-head coach in the fall of 2009, and then became head coach starting in 2014-15. Gilarde has been the Director of Scientific Imaging in the biology department at Wesleyan since 1984. Before that, he was an assistant scientist in the department of pathology at the Yale School of Medicine.
Gilarde earned his degree in biology from the University of Connecticut in 1982, where he was also on the track team. Prior to being named solo head coach, Gilarde had been involved with recruitment and player development, and is happily referred to as the “swing doctor” in the Wesleyan golf program. He posts a seven handicap himself, and can usually be found sharpening his skills at Lyman Orchards Golf Club (Wesleyan’s home course).
Gilarde and his wife, Lisa, their daughter, Camille, and twin boys, Alec and Graham, make their home in Cobalt, Conn.
