MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The 19th-ranked Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team earned the No. 6 seed in the 2016 NESCAC Tournament, and will head to Brunswick, Maine this weekend to face 13th-ranked and third-seeded Bowdoin College in quarterfinal action Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals enter the conference tournament with a 6-4 NESCAC mark, and 10-4 overall record, having lost all four games by just one goal – and three in overtime. The Polar Bears finished 7-3 in league play and 11-4 overall, but are coming off a 20-10 loss at Tufts. Wesleyan and Bowdoin met recently, on April 16, and played a thrilling overtime game which saw the Cardinals prevail on Senior Day, 12-11. The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five games, while the Polar Bears are 2-3 during that same stretch.
Saturday's game will feature one of the top NESCAC defenses in Bowdoin, against one of the league's top offenses in Wesleyan. Bowdoin ranks second in the conference in scoring defense, allowing just 9.11 goals per game, and are led by goalie Peter Mumford who has a league-best 57.9 save percentage. The Cardinals are the third-highest scoring team in the NESCAC, averaging 13.57 goals per game. They are led by their sophomore duo of Harry Stanton and Taylor Ghesquiere, who rank tied for first and tied for 10th in the league in goals with 47 and 38, respectively.
