MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Harry Stanton '18 of the Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team added another postseason accolade to his resume recently when the sophomore attack was named a 2016 USILA/Nike Division III All-America Honorable Mention.
Stanton, who was also named First Team All-NESCAC and Second Team All-New England this year, excelled in his second season with the Cardinals. He joined the 100-point club in 2016 after leading Wesleyan in both goals (49) and points (56), which ranked third and seventh in the conference, respectively.
Stanton scored at least two goals in 13 of the 14 games he played in this season. He recorded seven points on four goals and three assists in a 16-6 win over SUNY Oneonta, and totaled eight points on six goals and two assists in a 19-17 victory against Little Three rival Williams. Stanton also tallied six goals against the Cardinals' other Little Three rival, Amherst, one game earlier.
The New Canaan, Conn. native was instrumental to the Cardinals' success this year, as they finished 10-5 overall and 6-4 in the NESCAC. Wesleyan also ranked as high as No. 19 in the country, while the team's five losses were by a combined six goals, and three were in overtime to top-10 teams.
