  • A Look Back | The 2018 Wesleyan Cardinals

    On Sunday, May 27, 2018, the Wesleyan men's lacrosse program made history by winning the University's first NCAA national team championship ever. The Cardinals, ranked No. 9 in the country entering the championship game, defeated then-No. 3 Salisbury University, 8-6, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The win not only ended Salisbury's chance of a three-peat but also denied the national powerhouse a chance of tying Hobart for the most titles in Division III history (13). Wesleyan's all-time leading goal scorer and three-time All-American, Harry Stanton '18, scored twice and was named the Most Outstanding Player.

    For the second year in a row, the coaching staff of the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team was crowned the Northeast Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA).
  • Ghesquiere and Stanton Named USILA Scholar All-Americans

    Taylor Ghesquiere ’18 and Harry Stanton ’18 of the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team were named Division III Scholar All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
  • Six Men's Lacrosse Players Named IMLCA All-Region

    Six members of the national champion Wesleyan men’s lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Division III All-Northeast Region Teams. Highlighting the list were First Team selections Taylor Ghesquiere ’18 (midfield) and Otto Bohan ’20 (goalie), while Harry Stanton ’18 (attack), Carter Hawthorne ’19 (attack), Christian Barker ’19 (midfield) and Andres Rodriguez ’18 (defense) were all named to the Second Team.
  • 2018 NATIONAL CHAMPS! Men's Lacrosse Defeats Salisbury at Gillette Stadium, 8-6

    The Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team made history on Sunday afternoon as the Cardinals won the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship with an 8-6 victory over No. 3 Salisbury University at Gillette Stadium. Senior Harry Stanton, the program's all-time leader in goals, was named the Most Outstanding Player as he scored two more today including an assist on another.
  • Men's Lacrosse Sets Program Record with Nine All-American Selections

    The Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team set another program record today as nine Cardinals were named to the 2018 USILA Division III All-American Teams. Highlighting the list for Wesleyan are Third Team selections Harry Stanton ’18, Christian Barker ’19 and Carter Hawthorne ’19. Additionally, six players were named Honorable Mention—Jake Cresta ’18, Taylor Ghesquiere ’18, Eric Meyreles ’18, Andres Rodriguez ’18, Ben Shively ’18 and Otto Bohan ’20.
  • Carter Hawthorne Wins Elite 90™ Award for NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship

    Junior Carter Hawthorne of the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team was named the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
  • Wesleyan to Face Salisbury for the Division III National Championship on Sunday

    The Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team will compete in the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championship game this Sunday, May 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The Cardinals (18-3)—ranked No. 9 in the USILA Coaches Poll—will face two-time defending champs and No. 3 Salisbury University (20-3) beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday’s game will be the first-ever meeting between these two programs.

    The Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team has advanced to the national championship for the first time in program history as the ninth-ranked Cardinals upset undefeated and top-ranked RIT on the road Sunday in a semifinal thriller, 19-18.
  • Wesleyan to Face No. 1 RIT in NCAA Semifinal Rematch on Sunday

    This Sunday, May 20th, the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team and top-ranked RIT will meet in the semifinals of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships in a rematch of last year’s Final Four showdown. Sunday’s game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on RIT’s Turf Field.  
  • Hawthorne Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s At-Large First Team

    Hawthorne became the Cardinals’ all-time leader in assists during a 16-12 win over Cortland in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on May 9.

    Taylor Ghesquiere ’18 scored the game-winning goal with just 20 seconds remaining to send the No. 5 Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team to the semifinals of the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season as the Cardinals defeated No. 6 Tufts on the road, 12-11.

    Junior Carter Hawthorne tallied four more assists Wednesday to become the program's all-time leader in assists as the No. 5-ranked Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team claimed a 16-12 victory over SUNY Cortland in the second round of the NCAA Division III Championships on Jackson Field.

    The No. 5 Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championships after posting a 14-3 overall record and reaching the finals of the NESCAC Tournament. The Cardinals will host SUNY Cortland (12-6) in the Second Round on Wednesday, May 9 with a time to be determined.

    Freshman Ronan Jacoby of the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team was named the 2018 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, sophomore goalie Otto Bohan received All-NESCAC First Team recognition, and Harry Stanton ’18, Taylor Ghesquiere ’18, Andres Rodriguez ’18, Carter Hawthorne ’19 and Christian Barker ’19 were all named Second Team honorees as voted on by the conference coaches and announced Thursday by the league office.
  • Men's Lacrosse to Host NESCAC Semifinals and Championship Game

    Wesleyan, the defending NESCAC Champion, will host the remaining rounds of the 2018 NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The top-seeded Cardinals will face No. 4 Williams in one semifinal on Saturday, May 5, while No. 2 Amherst meets No. 3 Tufts in the other semifinal. The winners will square off in the championship game on Sunday, May 6 at noon.

    The top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 6 Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team scored seven goals in the first quarter and never looked back, as it defeated eighth-seeded Bates College, 16-11, in NESCAC Quarterfinal action Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field.

    The historic stretch continues for the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team as the nationally-ranked No. 6 Cardinals secured the No. 1 seed in the 2018 NESCAC Championship for the first time in program history. Wesleyan (12-2, 9-1 NESCAC) will look to defend its conference title beginning this Saturday, April 28 as it hosts eighth-seeded Bates College (8-7, 4-6) at 1 p.m. on Jackson Field. If the Cardinals advance, they will host the semifinal and championship games on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6.
  • Men's Lacrosse Defeats Conn. College, 15-11, in Regular-Season Finale

    The sixth-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team cruised to a 15-11 win over in-state NESCAC rival Connecticut College Wednesday night on Citrin Field in the 2018 regular-season finale. The Cardinals pulled away in the third quarter and led by as much as eight with just 6:28 remaining in regulation.
  • Men's Lacrosse Holds on to Defeat Hamilton, 8-7

    Despite jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, the No. 5 Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team held on to defeat Hamilton College, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon on Steuben Field in Clinton, N.Y. The Cardinals (11-2, 8-1 NESCAC) were led by junior Carter Hawthorne’s four points on two goals and two assists. Clay McCollum led all players with three goals to highlight the day for the Continentals (1-13, 0-10).
  • Harry Stanton Scores 200th Goal on Senior Day as No. 5 Wesleyan Defeats Bowdoin, 12-8

    The fifth-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team used an 11-2 run to pull away from Bowdoin College, and despite a late rally from the Polar Bears, the Cardinals hung on to win 12-8 on Senior Day at Jackson Field.

    The No. 5 Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team took an 8-4 lead into halftime before ultimately winning, 11-6, versus in-state rival Trinity College late Tuesday afternoon in NESCAC action at Jessee/Miller Field.
