  • Men's Lacrosse Holds on to Defeat Hamilton, 8-7

    Despite jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, the No. 5 Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team held on to defeat Hamilton College, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon on Steuben Field in Clinton, N.Y. The Cardinals (11-2, 8-1 NESCAC) were led by junior Carter Hawthorne’s four points on two goals and two assists. Clay McCollum led all players with three goals to highlight the day for the Continentals (1-13, 0-10).
  • Harry Stanton Scores 200th Goal on Senior Day as No. 5 Wesleyan Defeats Bowdoin, 12-8

    The fifth-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team used an 11-2 run to pull away from Bowdoin College, and despite a late rally from the Polar Bears, the Cardinals hung on to win 12-8 on Senior Day at Jackson Field.

    Trailing by two in the fourth quarter, the fourth-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team rallied down the stretch as Carter Hawthorne ’20 scored the game-winner with 2:24 remaining on the clock to lift the Cardinals to a 12-11 victory over No. 7 Amherst College in a NESCAC thriller Wednesday night on Citrin Field. With the win, Wesleyan claimed the Little Three title outright for the second consecutive season.

    The fifth-ranked Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team exploded for seven straight goals in the second quarter on the way to a 17-4 victory over Colby College in NESCAC play Saturday at Harold Alfond Stadium.
  • Stanton Becomes Wesleyan's All-Time Leader in Goals as Cardinals Rally to Defeat Skidmore, 12-8

    Tied 6-6 at halftime, the No. 8 Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team outscored Skidmore College 5-0 in the third quarter en route to a 12-8 win in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. With two more goals today, senior Harry Stanton became the program's all-time leader in goals with 188 career scores, surpassing the mark of 186 set by John Landay '01.

    After trailing 3-1 early in the first quarter, the No. 8 Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team rallied to defeat No. 10 Roanoke College on the road Wednesday night, 18-5. The Cardinals scored 10 unanswered goals en route to an impressive non-conference victory over a top-10 opponent.

  • No. 2 Men’s Lacrosse Upset by Coast Guard in Overtime, 10-9

    Christian Barker ’19 scored with 1:12 in regulation to send the game into overtime, but the No. 2-ranked Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team was upset on the road Tuesday night when Anthony Wyler of Coast Guard found the back of the net with 32 seconds remaining in OT to give the Bears a 10-9 win.

    Both weekday Wesleyan University lacrosse games have been rescheduled and moved a day earlier due to the impending weather forecast. The 18th-ranked Wesleyan women’s team will now play at Vassar tomorrow, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. and the No. 2 Wesleyan men’s team will play at Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

    Senior stars Harry Stanton and Taylor Ghesquiere of the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team have been named to the first-ever United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III Player of the Year Watch List. The duo are just two of 12 players in the country to be placed on the list.

    Following a historic 2017 season—in which the Cardinals posted a 20-2 overall record and reached the NCAA Semifinals—the Wesleyan University men’s lacrosse team earned the No. 1 ranking in the 2018 Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Men’s Preseason Top-20 poll as announced by US Lacrosse Magazine.
