This All-District accolade is presented by CoSIDA, and is a combination of academic excellence and achievements on the athletic field. The selection process is divided into eight geographic regions across the United States and Canada. Hawthorne is one of 12 Division III student-athletes to be named to the First Team in District 2.

All First Team members will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. The First and Second Teams for Academic All-America will be made public in June.

Hawthorne, who hails from Massapequa, N.Y., has been a focal point behind the Cardinals (17-3, 9-1 NESCAC) reaching the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second consecutive season. He leads the NESCAC in assists (63) and ranks fourth in points (85) this year, while breaking the school's single-season record in assists for the second consecutive year.

The junior attack ranks No. 5 in the entire nation this season in assists per game (3.1), and he became the Cardinals' all-time leader in assists during a 16-12 win over Cortland in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on May 9 at Jackson Field.

Hawthorne has also tallied the fifth-most, all-time points in school history, while registering three or more points in 18-of-20 games this spring. He rattled off a seven-point effort with two goals and five assists in a 15-5 win over Vassar on March 14, and then accomplished the feat again with a goal and six assists during a 17-4 triumph at Colby on March 31.

On Tuesday, Hawthorne was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-New England Third Team. He also grabbed All-NESCAC Second Team laurels on May 3.

The Cardinals will take on No. 1-ranked RIT in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Rochester, N.Y.
