HADLEY, Mass. - Junior forward Adam Cowie-Haskell and senior forward/midfielder Charlie Gruner of the Wesleyan University men's soccer team earned First Team All-NESCAC accolades Thursday, as announced by the league office.
For Gruner, the First Team selection marks the fourth of his storied career, while Cowie-Haskell – the 2014 NESCAC Rookie of the Year – moves up after earning Second Team laurels a year ago.
Gruner, who started all 15 games for the Cardinals, capped off his impressive four-year career with nine points in his senior season, good for third-best on the team. In addition, his three assists were tied for a team-high, and he finished third in the conference in penalty kicks (2-3).
The Stevenson, Md. native played in all 65 games for Wesleyan the past four seasons. He finished his career with 20 points, six goals and eight assists, while helping guide the Cardinals to a NESCAC Championship appearance as a junior, and a NESCAC Semifinal appearance as a freshman.
Cowie-Haskell shined for Wesleyan in his junior season, placing within the top-five in several offensive categories in the NESCAC – points, goals and game-winning goals. His 19 points were fourth highest in the league, while his eight goals were third most and his three game-winning goals ranked fifth.
