No. 19 Wesleyan Claims Wins Over Stanford and No. 20 Colby

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The No. 19 Wesleyan University men's squash team claimed wins over Stanford (9-0) and No. 20 Colby (5-4) Friday in day one action at the 2016 Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst, Mount Holyoke and Smith.

NO. 19 WESLEYAN 9, STANFORD 0
In the first match of the day Friday, Wesleyan cruised to a 9-0 victory over Stanford as the Cardinals swept courts No. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Senior captains Guy Davidson and Raheem Logan picked up 3-0 wins in the top of the lineup from the No. 1 and No. 2 spot, respectively, while Chris Hart '17 claimed a 3-1 win on court No. 3.

In the middle of the lineup, juniors David Sneed, Alex Kamisher, Zach Roach and Grant Lounsbury each swept their opponents from the No. 4-7 spots, respectively. Yahya Ladiwala '19 swept the No. 8 position, while Jason Brandner '16 edged his opponent in the No. 9 spot (3-2) to round out the top performances of the match.

The Cardinals edged Colby in the nightcap and claimed three wins from the top of the lineup. Davidson swept the No. 1 court (11-6, 12-10, 11-5), and Logan and Hart grabbed 3-1 victories on courts No. 2 (6-11, 13-11, 11-5, 11-9) and No. 3 (11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7), respectively. In the No. 5 position, Kamisher swept his opponent by scores of 11-6, 11-6, 11-8, and Brandner claimed a thrilling 3-2 win in the No. 9 spot (11-4, 8-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-3). 

Wesleyan is back in action Friday, Jan. 22 for a home match against Bowdoin College scheduled for 4 p.m.
