MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Senior Zach Roach of the 26th-ranked Wesleyan University men's squash team was named the Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the 2017 Men's National Team Championship, as announced Wednesday by the College Squash Association (CSA).
The CSA recognized one player from each division of the tournament, as Roach was the recipient from the D Division.
Roach helped guide the Cardinals to their third Conroy Cup title in program history, and first since 1992, as they defeated No. 25 Hobart College, 5-4. A senior co-captain, Roach went 2-1 during the tournament from the No. 3 position. He played a pivotal role in the finals, in which he rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Terrance Rose to win three straight for a critical point for the Cardinals (6-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-5).
Roach enjoyed an impressive senior campaign in which he went 13-7 overall from the No. 3 position. As a team, Wesleyan posted an 11-9 overall dual-match record.
