  • Choi Eliminated from CSA Individual National Championships

    Freshman Sean Choi’s excellent first year at Wesleyan concluded on Friday, as he was eliminated from the CSA Individual Championships in Washington D.C. Choi was the only representative for the Wesleyan men’s squash team, and the appearance at the tournament capped off a season in which he was named NESCAC Rookie of the Year for his consistent play at the No. 1 position throughout the year.

    The No. 31 Wesleyan men’s squash team concluded its 2017-18 season with a 7-2 win over No. 32 Stanford on Sunday in the Conroy Cup consolation bracket of the CSA National Team Championships.

    The Wesleyan University men's squash team--ranked No. 31 in the county--was edged by NESCAC rival and No. 27 Hamilton College Saturday morning, 5-4, in the Conroy Cup consolation bracket of the CSA National Team Championships hosted by the Cardinals.

    The 31st-ranked Wesleyan men’s squash team lost to NESCAC rival and No. 26 Bowdoin, 5-4, in the Conroy Cup Quarterfinals of the CSA National Team Championships on Friday afternoon in the Rosenbaum Squash Center.
  • Sean Choi Named NESCAC Men’s Squash Rookie of the Year

    Freshman Sean Choi of the Wesleyan University men’s squash team has been selected NESCAC Rookie of the Year by the conference coaches, which was announced Thursday by the league office. Choi was also named an All-NESCAC First Team selection.
  • Men's Squash Drops Pair of Matches at NESCAC Championships

    Day 2 of the NESCAC Championships featured a pair of battles for the Wesleyan University men’s squash team, but the Cardinals came up short in both matches, falling 8-1 to Tufts and then dropping a heartbreaker 5-4 to Connecticut College. The matches were part of the consolation round robin and were hosted at Colgate University. With the losses, Wesleyan finishes the weekend in eleventh place in the NESCAC.
  • Men's Squash Loses to Colby at NESCAC Championships, 8-1

    In its first match at the 2018 NESCAC Championships hosted by Hamilton College, the Wesleyan University men’s squash team fell 8-1 to Colby on Friday afternoon. It was the second 8-1 loss to sixth-seeded Colby this season for Wesleyan, who is seeded eleventh in the tournament.
  • Wesleyan Squash Prepares for NESCAC Championships

    The Wesleyan University squash teams will compete at the 2018 NESCAC Championships this weekend at Hamilton College beginning Friday, Feb. 2. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play in the First Round Friday at 4:30 p.m. The men received the No. 11 seed and will square up against No. 6 Colby, while the women earned the No. 7 seed and will play No. 10 Connecticut College.
  • Navy Sweeps Men's Squash, 9-0

    No. 14 Navy showed their strength against the 31st-ranked Wesleyan University men's squash team on Sunday at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, defeating the Cardinals 9-0 in the final match in Middletown this season. Navy moves to 14-7 with the win, while Wesleyan ends their regular season with a 4-13 record.
  • Cardinals Host Little Three Championships, Lose to Amherst and Williams

    Little Three rivals Amherst College and Williams College both defeated the Wesleyan University men’s squash team on Saturday at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, bringing the 31st-ranked Cardinals’ record to 4-12. The day began with No. 23 Amherst topping Wesleyan, 7-2, with Sean Choi ’21 and Kevin Le ’19 winning matches for the Cardinals. No. 19 Williams then defeated Amherst before finishing the day with an 8-1 win over the hosting Cardinals.
  • No. 30 Wesleyan Defeats Stanford, Falls to Conn. College

    The 30th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s squash team split its doubleheader Sunday at the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst College. The Cardinals defeated No. 32 Stanford earlier in the day, 6-3, but were edged by No. 29 Connecticut College, 5-4, in their second match. Wesleyan is now 4-10 overall this season.
  • Cardinals Fall to No. 27 Bowdoin, 8-1

    The 30th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s squash team lost to No. 27 Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon, 8-1. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 3-9 on the season and the Polar Bears improve to 2-7.
  • Cardinals Split Doubleheader Against Haverford and Dickinson

    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team went 1-1 on the day at the first day of the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst College. The Cardinals defeated No. 30 Haverford College with a 9-0 sweep in their first match but fell short against No. 17 Dickinson College later in the day, 6-3. Wesleyan is now 6-5 overall this season.

    The No. 30 Wesleyan University men’s squash team dropped a pair of matches Friday at the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst College as the Cardinals lost 6-3 to No. 31 Haverford College before a 9-0 loss against No. 17 Dickinson College. Wesleyan falls to 3-8 on the season.

    Freshman Sean Choi was the bright spot for the Wesleyan University men's squash team on Wednesday night, earning the Cardinals’ only point in an 8-1 loss to No. 18 Bates College. The Bobcats move to 6-2 with the victory, while Wesleyan drops to 3-6 on the season.

    No. 26 Hamilton College came away with a hard-fought 5-4 win over the 30th-ranked Wesleyan University men’s squash team on Sunday afternoon at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, getting out to a quick lead and clinching the match at No. 4 despite a spirited comeback from the Cardinals. With the win, the Continentals move to 4-3 while Wesleyan falls to 3-5.

    In its first match since returning home from a training trip in California, the Wesleyan University men’s squash team fell 6-3 to MIT on Friday evening at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The loss brings the No. 30 Cardinals’ record to 3-4 on the year, while No. 22 MIT improves to 10-2.

    The No. 25 Wesleyan University men’s squash team fell twice against NESCAC competition on Saturday at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, dropping matches to No. 23 Colby, 8-1, and No. 29 Tufts, 7-2. Sophomore Will Bienstock was a bright spot for the Cardinals, as he won both his matches in five games, coming back from 0-2 down against Colby for Wesleyan’s only point against the Mules.
  • Men's Squash Sweeps Bryant and Vassar to Begin 2017-18 Season

    The No. 25 Wesleyan University men’s squash team kicked its season off with a pair of victories on Saturday, first taking down the Bryant Bulldogs before following it up with a win over the No. 37 Vassar Brewers. In both matches, the Cardinals won 9-0, not dropping a single game in either.

    The Wesleyan University men’s squash team is coming off an impressive 2016-17 campaign in which it won the Conroy Cup (D Division) title at the CSA National Championships to cap off its seventh-consecutive winning season as the Cardinals finished 11-9 overall in dual matches. The 2017-18 campaign kicks off this Saturday, Nov. 18 as Wesleyan hosts Vassar (11 a.m.) and Bryant (1 p.m.) in the Rosenbaum Squash Center.
