LEWISTON, Maine - In its first match of the new year, the 31st-ranked Wesleyan University men's squash team lost to No. 18 Bates College in an away match, 8-1.
With the loss, the Cardinals are now 1-7 on the year while the Bobcats improve to 3-3.
- Sean Choi picked up the lone win for Wesleyan as he won a thriller in the No. 1 spot. The sophomore took a 2-0 lead with wins of 11-3, 12-10, but Graham Bonnell rallied to force a fifth set by claiming back-to-back wins of 11-6, 11-7. Despite the momentum in Bonnell's favor, Choi remained resilient and won the match with an 11-5 victory in the fifth frame.
- However, the Bobcats swept the No. 2-9 positions en route to the victory.
- Wesleyan is back in action tomorrow and will face Bowdoin on the road at 11:30 a.m.
