Cardinals Sweep Diving Events Against Williams and Conn. College

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Wesleyan University men's swimming & diving team dropped a pair of dual meets to Williams College and Connecticut College Saturday afternoon in Williamstown, Mass.

The Cardinals fell to the Ephs, 211-79, and dropped its dual meet to the Camels, 208-82.

Sophomore Brandon Pearson highlighted the day with wins in both diving events, earning a final score of 453.52 in the 1 meter and 286.27 in the 3 meter.

Classmate Ethan Chupp grabbed second-place in the 3 meter with a score of 210.82, while freshman Nick Cimino finished third with a score of 184.57.

In the 1 meter event, Cimino finished second behind Pearson with a score of 286.20, and freshman Kendar Serindag finished third with a score of 286.12.

In the 100 yard freestyle, sophomore Alex Kapphahn captured fourth-place with a time of 48.06. In the 500 yard freestyle, sophomore Ali Pourmaleki finished in seventh place with a time of 4:59.57, and in the 1650 freestyle, junior Zach Carfi claimed fifth with a time of 17:55.08.

Wesleyan returns to the pool Friday, January 22 at 6 p.m. and will host Colby, Bowdoin and Trinity.
