MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan University men's swimming and diving team will host the 2017 NESCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships this weekend in the Wesleyan Natatorium beginning Friday, Feb. 17 and ending Sunday, Feb. 19.
Competition will get underway each day with preliminary heats beginning at 10 a.m. Finals begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, 5:50 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. All championship information is available on the NESCAC Championship home page, which can be viewed HERE.
Tickets are $8 per session or $45 for an all-session pass for adults, and $3 per session for children and students. Doors will open 60 minutes prior to the preliminaries and finals.

The Cardinals enter the championship having faced a tough schedule which featured many close meets and included a win against Division 1 Fairfield University. Wesleyan finished eighth in last year's event with 484 points.
Leading the way in the swimming events for the Cardinals will be Ali Pourmaleki '18, who finished third in the 200-yard butterfly and was part of the 400-yard relay team which set a new school record with their time of 3:30.13 in last year's championship. Alex Kapphahn '19 also set a varsity record in last year's event in the 50-yard backstroke event with his time of 24.27.
Ethan Chupp '18 will be key for Wesleyan in the diving events, as he will look to follow-up Brandon Pearson's performance at last year's championships as Pearson finished third in both the one and three-meter events, and set school records with his scores of 501.75 (1-meter) and 545.00 (3-meters).
