Cardinals Drop Spring Opener to Division I Foe Georgetown, 6-1

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Wesleyan University men's tennis team faced Division I opponent Georgetown University Tuesday afternoon in its 2016 spring opener and dropped a 6-1 match to the Hoyas. 

RECORDS
Wesleyan: 1-1
Georgetown: 3-5

SINGLES RESULTS

  • Dhruv Yadav '18 claimed the only win for the Cardinals as he defeated Bart Panarese in No. 6 singles. After dropping the first set, 5-7, he responded with wins of 6-2 and 6-1.
  • Marco Lam claimed No. 1 singles over Michael Liu '17, 6-3, 7-5.
  • Peter Beatty defeated Steven Chen '18 in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
  • Michael Chen earned wins of 6-3, 6-3 over Tiago Eusebio '18.
  • Yannik Mahlangu and Will Sharton defeated Jake Roberts '17 and Joachim Samson '19, respectively, by scores of 6-4, 7-6.

DOUBLES RESULTS

  • Jordan Portner and Chen defeated Zachary Brint '18 and Liu in No. 1 doubles, 6-4.
  • Beatti and Mac Rechan claimed No. 2 doubles over Sam Rudovsky '16 and Samson, 6-3.
  • Jack Murphy and Mahlangu won No. 3 doubles over Greg Lyon '17 and Chen, 6-3.
