The Lead: The Wesleyan University men's cross country team opened up its 2016 season with an impressive showing at the Wesleyan Invitational on Friday afternoon. The team wore throwback jerseys to commemorate longtime cross country and track coach Elmer Swanson who passed away in August. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Will Dudek finished in first place, crossing the line with a time of 20:31.51.
  • Reid Hawkins '17 and Tate Knight '18 followed in second and third place with marks of 20:48.15 and 21:10.70, respectively.
  • Shota Nakamura '19 and Josh Signore '19 rounded out the top five for the Cardinals, as they completed the two-mile run with times of 21.39.36 and 21:41.90.

 UP NEXT:

  • Wesleyan will return to the track on Saturday, October 1st and will compete in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus. The race will begin at 12:15 p.m.
