Louisville, Ky. - Senior Will Dudek of the Wesleyan University men's cross country team took part in the 2016 NCAA Division III Individual Championship, which were held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. His time of 25:06.3 was good enough for 49th out of a field which featured 278 runners.
Dudek secured his qualification for the race with his impressive eighth place finish at the New England Regionals with a time of 24:55.34. As a team, the Cardinals placed 12th of 56 schools.
North Central (Ill.) captured the team championship while SUNY Geneseo and Wisconsin-Eau Claire rounded out the top three. In the individual championship, Ian LaMere of Wisconsin-Plattsville captured first, followed by Ernie Pitone of Widener and Tim Nichols of Tufts.
With the race, Dudek concludes a great season and career at Wesleyan. He notched his best career finish this year (eighth at Regionals in 24:55.34) en route to All-Region honors, and was also named Second-Team All-NESCAC.
