MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – For the third straight season, senior co-captain Rielly Wieners of the Wesleyan University softball team has earned All-NESCAC Second Team honors, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
The All-Conference First and Second Teams are comprised of 11 student-athletes, respectively. Wieners was also recognized as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-New England Team member in 2017.

Wieners ranks sixth in the NESCAC in on-base percentage (.471), while also leading the Cardinals (14-16, 2-8 West Division) in slugging percentage (.477), home runs (two) and walks (12). The West Springfield, Mass. native also compiled 32 hits, three doubles, 15 RBIs and 10 runs, to go along with a .372 batting average, and was a focal point behind the Cardinals qualifying for the NESCAC playoffs.
The senior standout was also exceptional behind the plate on defense, ranking sixth in the conference with 187 put outs, to go along with 21 assists. She only committed three errors and allowed three passed balls during 30 games, boasting an incredible .986 fielding percentage.
During a 4-3 win on March 28 against Coast Guard, Wieners connected on the game-winning RBI single with two outs in the sixth at the Wesleyan Softball Field. She reached the 100-hit plateau for her career during a 2-0 win over Wooster on March 21 in Clermont, Fla., and put the squad up for good with a solo home run in the sixth. Wieners finished the 2018 campaign with eight multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit efforts.
Wieners concluded her superb career with 120 hits, 68 RBIs, 53 walks, 45 runs, 26 doubles and 10 home runs, to go along with a .331 batting average, a .435 on-base percentage and a .485 slugging percentage.
