    Senior forward Maddie Bledsoe of the Wesleyan University women's basketball team has been selected to play in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m. and will be held at Ainsworth Gymnasium at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.

    The fifth-seeded Wesleyan women’s basketball team came out strong Saturday afternoon against top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 1 Amherst, but the defending national champions’ stifling defense was too much to overcome as the Mammoths pulled away with a 58-31 win in the NESCAC Semifinals at LeFrak Gymnasium.

    The fifth-seeded Wesleyan (17-7) women’s basketball team will play at top-seeded and nationally-ranked No. 1 Amherst (25-0) this Saturday, Feb. 24 in the NESCAC Semifinals. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in LeFrak Gymnasium. The winner of Saturday’s Little Three showdown will face the winner of No. 2 Bowdoin (24-1) versus No. 3 Tufts (22-3) in the finals on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m.

Wesleyan will play at fourth-seeded Middlebury College (17-7, 6-4 NESCAC) this Saturday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m.

    The Wesleyan University women’s basketball team never trailed Friday night and held off a late scare by Bates College as the Cardinals came away with a 47-46 NESCAC win on the road. The Bobcats inbounded by the ball with just 13 seconds on the clock but a stifling Wesleyan defense forced a desperation shot as time expired.

    Senior forward Maddie Bledsoe of the Wesleyan University women’s basketball team was named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her stellar performance in wins over Springfield (71-61) and Connecticut College (69-64), in which she averaged 14.0 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. It is the second time Bledsoe has been named the player of the week this season.

Both teams are now an identical 11-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

    The Wesleyan University women’s basketball team came out hot Friday night, jumping out to a 10-2 lead, and never looked back as the Cardinals held off Hamilton College down the stretch to claim a 62-56 win at Silloway Gymnasium.

    Four players scored in double-figures for the Wesleyan University women’s basketball team but it wasn’t enough as Middlebury College claimed a 77-60 victory Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 8-4 overall and 0-2 in the NESCAC. The Panthers improve to 11-2 and 2-0 in league play.

    Trailing by 14 at the half, the Wesleyan University women’s basketball team rallied in the final 20 minutes of action but Little Three rival Williams College eventually prevailed in Friday night’s NESCAC opener, 69-64. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Cardinals as they drop to 8-3 on the year and 0-1 in league play. The Ephs, who avenge their Dec. 9 overtime loss against Wesleyan, improve to 9-4 and 1-0 in the NESCAC.
  • Wesleyan Sets Program Record with 103 Points in Rout Over Goucher

    The Wesleyan University women’s basketball team set a program record with 103 points as the Cardinals cruised to a commanding 103-35 win over Goucher College at the Music City Classic on Saturday. Six players scored in double-figures for Wesleyan as it improved to 8-2 overall. Following the loss, the Gophers dropped to 0-11 on the season.

    The Wesleyan University women’s basketball team rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat the University of Dubuque Friday at the Music City Classic, 66-54. Maeve Vitale ’18 led the team with a game-high 17 points while adding five rebounds as the Cardinals improved to 7-2 overall. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 2-9 on the season.
  • Bledsoe Hits Clutch Free Throws in Regulation as Cardinals Defeat Williams 74-65 in OT

    Down by two with only :00.8 remaining in regulation, Maddie Bledsoe ’18 went to the line and hit a pair of clutch free throws to send the game into overtime, where the Wesleyan University women’s basketball team would outscore Williams College 14-5 in the final five minutes to seal a thrilling 74-65 win over its Little Three archrival. Bledsoe finished the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season.
