No. 7 Women’s Crew Competes Against Trio of Top-15 Teams

MEDFORD, Mass. – The No. 7 Wesleyan women's crew team competed against No. 1 Bates, No. 12 Tufts and No. 6 Wellesley on Saturday morning. The Varsity 8 and the second V8 advanced to the championship after triumphing over Wellesley in head-to-head with, but both boats fell in the championship to No. 1 Bates.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • In Wesleyan's first race of the day, the Varsity 8 crossed the finish line in first-place (6:41.4) just ahead of Wellesley (6:44.11) to advance to the finals. Bates (6:48.7) outpaced Tufts (6:52.8) in the next race, before the Bobcats met the Cardinals in the championship. Bates crossed the finish line first with a time of 6:43.6, while Wesleyan was behind in 6:52.9.  
  • In the first race for the second V8, Wesleyan clocked in at 6:58.9, outlasting Wellesley (7:03.2) to advance to the championship. In the final, the Cardinals crossed the finish line in 7:16.4, behind first-place Bates (7:02.0).
  • Wesleyan's third Varsity 8 fell to Wellesley in its first race of the day, clocking in at 7:30.2, before edging Tufts by three seconds in the consolation with a time of 7:28.3.
