Grant Named NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Player of the Week

NESCAC WEEKLY RELEASE 

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Freshman goaltender Allegra Grant of the Wesleyan University women's ice hockey team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her spectacular performance between the pipes during the Cardinals weekend series against Hamilton College, which saw Wesleyan go 1-0-1 and move into a tie for fifth in the conference.

The Winnetka, Ill. native made an impressive 75 total saves over the weekend, including a 40 save performance in Friday's 0-0 tie. In the Cardinals 2-1 win on Saturday, Grant turned away 35 of the 36 shots she faced. She currently ranks third in the NESCAC in save percentage at .955 and sixth in goals against average (1.45). Her .591 winning percentage puts her fifth in the league. 

Wesleyan will return to the ice on Friday, January 27th as it begins a weekend series against Bowdoin College. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.
