Women’s Hockey Falls to Colby, 2-0

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Wesleyan women's hockey team fell 2-0 to Colby on Saturday in its second contest of the weekend. With the loss, the Cardinals fall to 3-6-0, 1-3-0, while the Mules improve to 5-2-3, 4-2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a scoreless first period, the Mules got on the board at the 9:12 mark of the second frame. Wesleyan's goaltender Allegra Grant denied Tess Dupre's initial shot, but Michaud-Nolan tipped-in the rebound from the left post, making it 1-0.
  • The teams battled a close third period, but Colby was able to add another tally with just six seconds remaining in the game. Anna Cosention collected her own rebound after an initial save by Grant, before finding the back of the goal to make it 2-0.
  • The teams battled a tight third period, with Colby holding a slight edge in shots (6-4).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Grant was stellar in goal for the Cardinals, making 30 saves. Despite the loss, Grant still leads the conference in save percentage with .967.
  • Cierra San Roman made 20 stops in net for the Mules.

UP NEXT:

  • Wesleyan will be idle all week until they host Connecticut College on Friday (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday (3:00 p.m.).
