  • Women’s Lacrosse Earns Academic Honors from IWLCA

    The Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team was named a 2018 Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) today. Additionally, three Cardinals—Sara Bennett ’18, Breanna Cavanaugh ’19 and Caroline Sgaglione ’18—were named to the Division III Academic Honor Roll.

    Six members of the Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team have been honored by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) with a selection to the 2018 Division III All-Berkshire Region Teams.
  • Women's Lacrosse Heads to Gettysburg for NCAA Regionals

    The nationally-ranked No. 15 Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team has advanced to the regional round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships and will face No. 6 Amherst (16-2) on Saturday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. The winner advances to the regional championship on Sunday, May 20 (2:30 p.m.) against either No. 3 Gettysburg (17-2) or No. 5 Mary Washington (17-4). All three games will take place on the campus of Gettysburg College, with the winner of the regional advancing to the Final Four.

    The No. 15-ranked Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team won a thrilling 13-10 victory over No. 12 Messiah on Saturday in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships on the campus of St. John Fisher in Rochester, N.Y.
  • Women's Lacrosse Returns to NCAA Tournament, Will Face Messiah in First Round

    The nationally-ranked No. 15 Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships, for the second year in a row, and will play No. 12 Messiah (15-3) in the first round on Saturday, May 12 on the campus of St. John Fisher. The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the second round on Sunday to face the host school and 18th-ranked Cardinals.
  • Three Cardinals Named to NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Teams

    Junior midfielder Abigail Horst and junior defender Caroline Sgaglione of the 14th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team were named All-NESCAC First Team selections, while sophomore goalie Allegra Grant received Second Team laurels as voted on by the league’s coaches and announced by the conference office today.

    For the second year in a row, the Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team has qualified for the NESCAC Tournament, as the nationally-ranked No. 14 Cardinals (10-5, 6-4 NESCAC) earned the No. 5 seed and will play at fourth-seeded and No. 13 Bowdoin College (11-4, 6-4) this Saturday, April 28 at 12 p.m. on Ryan Field.

    Trailing by two with less than a minute remaining in regulation, Caitlin Wood '19 scored twice including the game-tying goal on a free position attempt with just nine seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime. Minutes later, Abby Manning '20 secured the come-from-behind win with an impressive score between two defenders with 54 seconds to play in OT as the 12th-ranked Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team rallied to defeat No. 19 Colby College Saturday afternoon on Smith Field.

    The 12th-ranked Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team cruised to a commanding 14-4 win over Babson College Tuesday morning in its first game of the team's Spring Break Florida trip. The Cardinals (5-1) were led by Caitlin Wood '19, who tallied three goals, while eight others factored into the scoring. Taylor Thorbahn paced the Beavers (3-4) with two points on two assists.

    Trailing by three at halftime, the No. 18-nationally ranked Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team rallied in the second half to upset No. 2 TCNJ on the road Wednesday afternoon, 7-6. The Cardinals held the Lions scoreless in the second half while Caitlin Wood ’19 scored two of her game-high three goals in the final 30 minutes of action, including the game-winner with 1:51 on the clock.

    Both weekday Wesleyan University lacrosse games have been rescheduled and moved a day earlier due to the impending weather forecast. The 18th-ranked Wesleyan women’s team will now play at Vassar tomorrow, March 6 at 6:30 p.m. and the No. 2 Wesleyan men’s team will play at Coast Guard Academy on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.

    Freshman Kat Cucullo scored her first collegiate goal in overtime as the 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Little Three archrival Williams College in its 2018 season-opening thriller, 10-9.
