    Wesleyan Defeats No. 19 Centenary; Posts 3-0 Record on “Senior Sunday” On “Senior Sunday”, the Wesleyan University wrestling team excelled as it went a perfect 3-0 in its first and only home meet of the 2016-17 season as the Cardinals defeated WPI (23-15) and Norwich (32-12), and wrapped up the day with a 24-15 win over No. 19 Centenary.

    Carrillo Ranked No. 3 Wrestler in the Country; Earns Conference Wrestler of the Week Honors MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Devon Carrillo '17 of the Wesleyan University wrestling team was named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week for his stellar performance on Saturday, Feb. 4, in which he helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-1 weekend. In addition, Carrillo moved up the individual rankings and is now the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the country at 197.

    Wrestling Finishes Sixth Overall at NEWA Duals Entering the NEWA Duals as the No. 8 seed, the Wesleyan University wrestling team went 2-2 to finish sixth overall in the 16-team field, as Devon Carrillo ’17 was named to the NEWA All-Tournament Team. The Cardinals upset Little Three rival and No. 5 seed Williams in a thriller, 23-21, and defeated ninth-seeded Norwich, 23-21. The two losses came against eventual champion and top-seeded Johnson & Wales (47-4), and seventh-seeded Southern Maine (31-13).
