MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Roy Forys of the Wesleyan University wrestling team was named the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Co-Wrestler of the Week for his stellar performance at the Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday.
Forys went 5-0 at the tournament hosted by Springfield College. The junior from Carlstadt, N.J. had three pins and a major decision on his way to the finals, where he faced returning All-American Nick Remke of the Coast Guard Academy and won, 8-5. Remke finished fifth at nationals last season and is currently the No. 2 ranked 165-pound wrestler in the country.
Forys is 9-2 this season with five wins by pin. His two losses thus far came at the hands of last year's Northeast Regional Finalists, Taylor Shay of Roger Williams (currently ranked No. 6 in the country) by a 3-2 decision and Adrian Gonzalez of Johnson & Wales by a 9-8 decision.
Wesleyan is off this weekend and returns to competition Saturday, Dec. 1 for the RIT Invitational.
