    Laila Samy’s Wesleyan squash career came to a close this weekend at the CSA Individual Championships in Washington, D.C., where the senior was eliminated from the Ramsay Division Main Draw and Consolation with a pair of losses on Friday.

    Senior Laila Samy and freshman Sean Choi of the Wesleyan University squash teams will compete in the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships held in Washington, D.C. at George Washington University and Squash on Fire, March 2-4.
  • Laila Samy Repeats, Named NESCAC Women's Squash Player of the Year

    For the second consecutive season, senior Laila Samy of the Wesleyan women’s squash team has been named the NESCAC Player of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches and announced Thursday by the league office. She also earned her fourth All-NESCAC First Team honor.
  • Laila Samy Named Betty Richey Award Winner, Cardinals Finish Fourth in Walker Cup

    Senior Laila Samy highlighted the day for the Wesleyan women’s squash team as she was named the 2018 Betty Richey Award winner on Sunday at Harvard, which is the most prestigious annual honor bestowed by the College Squash Association (CSA). With another win this morning, Samy concluded her dual-match season with a perfect 24-0 record, however, the 21st-ranked Cardinals lost to 18th-ranked Tufts, 7-2, to finish fourth in the Walker Cup “C” Division of the CSA National Team Championships.
  • Women's Squash Drops 7-2 Match to No. 17 Dickinson

    No. 17 Dickinson defeated No. 21 Wesleyan, 7-2, in the semifinals of the CSA National Championships “C” Division Walker Cup on Saturday, beating the Cardinals for the second time this season on their way to the divisional finals tomorrow. With the loss, Wesleyan moves into the third-place playoff.
  • No. 21 Women's Squash Edges No. 20 Franklin & Marshall, 5-4

    The No. 21 Wesleyan University women’s squash team upset No. 20 Franklin & Marshall in the first round of the CSA National Team Championships on Friday at Harvard, edging the Diplomats 5-4 in a dramatic finish capped with a win by senior captain Tatum LeClair to clinch the victory.

    Senior Laila Samy of the 21st-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team has been named a 2018 Betty Richey Award finalist—the most prestigious annual individual honor bestowed by the College Squash Association (CSA). She is joined by Princeton University’s Olivia Fiechter and Raneem Sharaf of Trinity College.
  • Feenstra Leads Women's Squash to 5-4 Win Over Hamilton at NESCAC Championships

    Freshman Natasha Feenstra was the hero for the Wesleyan University women’s squash team on Sunday, winning the deciding match with the score at 4-4 to help the Cardinals defeat host Hamilton College in the seventh-place match at the NESCAC Championships. The 21st-ranked Cardinal squad was pushed to the brink by the No. 22 Continentals, but for the second time this season, Wesleyan prevailed thanks, in part, to strong play at the top of the lineup.
  • Wesleyan Falls to Williams and Bates at NESCAC Championships

    The Wesleyan University women’s squash team dropped a pair of matches on Day 2 of the NESCAC Championships at Hamilton College, first falling 8-1 to Little Three rival Williams before going down to Bates 7-2 later in the day. Despite the setbacks, there were some impressive individual performances from the Cardinals throughout the day against the No. 13 Ephs and No. 19 Bobcats.
  • Women's Squash Sweeps Conn. College in First Round of NESCAC Championships

    The Wesleyan University women’s squash team began play at the 2018 NESCAC Championships hosted by Hamilton College with a 9-0 win over Connecticut College on Friday, advancing to the main draw. It was the third time this season that the two teams have played, and the third time Wesleyan prevailed 9-0. The seventh-seeded Cardinals were without freshman Aditi Prasad, but the rest of the roster stepped up nicely to beat the 10th-seeded Camels, despite some very close matches.
  • Wesleyan Squash Prepares for NESCAC Championships

    The Wesleyan University squash teams will compete at the 2018 NESCAC Championships this weekend at Hamilton College beginning Friday, Feb. 2. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play in the First Round Friday at 4:30 p.m. The men received the No. 11 seed and will square up against No. 6 Colby, while the women earned the No. 7 seed and will play No. 10 Connecticut College.
  • Samy Finishes Regular Season Undefeated but Cardinals Lose to No. 16 Virginia, 8-1

    Senior Laila Samy completed an undefeated regular season on Sunday as the 21st-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team took on the University of Virginia in a match played at MIT. Despite her victory at the top position, the Cardinals came up short and fell to the 16th-ranked Cavaliers, 8-1.
  • Women's Squash Splits Doubleheader Against St. Lawrence and Conn. College
    January 21, 2018
    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team split its doubleheader Sunday at the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst College. The Cardinals were edged by No. 21 St. Lawrence University, 5-4, but responded with a 9-0 sweep over NESCAC foe and No. 24 Connecticut College. Wesleyan is now 8-6 overall this season.
  • No. 20 Women's Squash Defeats No. 26 Bowdoin, 8-1

    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team defeated No. 26 Bowdoin College Saturday afternoon, 8-1. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 7-5 on the season while the Polar Bears drop to 4-6.
  • Cardinals Split Doubleheader Against Haverford and Dickinson

    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team went 1-1 on the day at the first day of the Pioneer Valley Invitational hosted by Amherst College. The Cardinals defeated No. 30 Haverford College with a 9-0 sweep in their first match but fell short against No. 17 Dickinson College later in the day, 6-3. Wesleyan is now 6-5 overall this season.
  • No. 20 Women's Squash Falls to No. 29 Bates, 7-2

    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women's squash team was successful at both the top and bottom of the lineup on Wednesday night against No. 29 Bates College, but the Cardinals were unable to earn any points elsewhere in a 7-2 loss at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. 
  • 20th-Ranked Cardinals Cruise Past No. 25 Hamilton, 7-2

    The Wesleyan University women’s squash team earned its second straight victory on Sunday afternoon at the Rosenbaum Squash Center with a 7-2 win over No. 25 Hamilton. The 20th-ranked Cardinals won the top seven matches, bringing their season record to 5-3 while the Continentals drop to 2-5.
  • Cardinals Cruise to 9-0 Sweep Over Mount Holyoke
    January 12, 2018
    Less than 48 hours after returning from a training trip in Northern California, the Wesleyan University women’s squash team took down Mount Holyoke College at the Rosenbaum Squash Center on Friday afternoon, sweeping the Lyons 9-0 in comprehensive victory. The 20th-ranked Cardinals move to 4-3 with the win while No. 27 Mount Holyoke drops to 4-2.
  • No. 20 Wesleyan Falls to No. 4 Stanford, 8-1

    The 20th-ranked Wesleyan University women’s squash team concluded its west coast training trip with a match against hosts No. 4 Stanford University on Tuesday night, falling to the Cardinal 8-1.

  • Cardinals Defeat No. 24 Colby, Fall to No. 19 Tufts

    The No. 21 Wesleyan University women’s squash team hosted NESCAC foes No. 19 Tufts and No. 24 Colby on Saturday afternoon at the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Cardinals started off with a 6-3 win over Colby before dropping a thriller to Tufts 5-4 later in the day. They are now 2-2 on the season.
  • No. 21 Women's Squash Sweeps No. 20 William Smith, 9-0

    The No. 21 Wesleyan University women’s squash team swept No. 20 William Smith College on Friday night at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, notching their first victory of the season in their home opener.
  • 2017-18 Wesleyan Women's Squash Season Preview

    Ranked No. 21 in the 2017-18 Dunlop Preseason Rankings, the Wesleyan University women’s squash team looks poised to have an excellent campaign. The Cardinals return 10 athletes from last year’s team that finished 12-10 overall while claiming the Walker Cup Consolation Finals in the C Division of the CSA National Team Championships.
