MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The No. 21 Wesleyan University women's squash team swept No. 20 William Smith College on Friday night at the Rosenbaum Squash Center, notching their first victory of the season in their home opener.
With the win, the Cardinals move to 1-1 on the season while William Smith drops to 5-1.
- At No. 6, freshman Natasha Feenstra won in her college debut, defeating Peyton Capute 11-2, 11-3, 11-8.
- Freshmen Aditi Prasad and Ananya Vir also won their first college matches. Prasad beat Cashel McCarthy at No. 2 11-4, 11-6, 11-8 and Vir closed out the overall match with an 11-6, 4-11, 11-9, 11-5 victory over Joana Pacheco at No. 3.
- The remaining matches were all won in three games for Wesleyan, except No. 9, where the Cardinals won by default.
- It will be a quick turnaround for the Cardinals, as the women host both Colby and Tufts tomorrow afternoon in the Wesleyan Round Robin. The action will start at 1:30 p.m. against the Mules and will continue at 3:30 p.m. against the Jumbos.
