HADLEY, Mass. – Freshman Caroline Murphy of the Wesleyan University women's swimming and diving team earned All-NESCAC honors following her performance at the conference championships this past weekend. In addition, head coach Peter Solomon was named the NESCAC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year.
The top three finishers in each event received All-Conference recognition.
Murphy became Wesleyan's third NESCAC swimming champion and first women's title-holder as she claimed the 50-yard backstroke event with a school record time of 26.18. Additionally, she also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke as she touched the wall in 55.64, also a new school record.
In his fifth season at the helm, Solomon guided the Cardinals to their best finish at the championships (7th) since the 2008 season. His swimmers set a total of 10 varsity records and recorded 10 NCAA "B" cuts at the event.
