  • Wesleyan Wraps Up Season On Final Day of NCAA Championship

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2018-19 season on the final day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship on Saturday. The team came in 25th overall in a field of 50. The meet was highlighted by Caroline Murphy’s second-straight All-American honor in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday and the 400-yard medley relay team’s (Murphy, Mengmeng Gibbs, Maela Whitcomb and Grace Middleton) 15th-place All-American Honorable Mention accolade on Thursday.
  • Murphy Earns Second-Straight All-American Accolade in the 100 Backstroke With Third-Place Finish

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wesleyan’s Caroline Murphy of the women’s swimming and diving team placed third in the 100-yard backstroke to earn All-American honors for the second time. Her time of 55.48 placed her one spot higher than last season when she won her first All-American accolade.
  • 400 Medley Relay Team Earns All-America Honorable Mention

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team took to the pool on the second day of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. The 400-yard medley relay team (Caroline Murphy, Mengmeng Gibbs, Maela Whitcomb and Grace Middleton) earned All-America Honorable Mention accolades. The relay touched the wall in 3:49.78, which was good for 15th place. 
  • 200 Medley Relay Earns All-America Honorable Mention

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving 200-yard medley relay team composed of Caroline Murphy (back), Mengmeng Gibbs (breast), Maela Whitcomb (fly) and Hannah O’Halloran (free) earned All-America Honorable Mention after placing 12th in the event with a time of 1:44.45. Denison won with a national record time of 1:40.11, while the top-16 teams featured three other NESCAC squads (Bates, Conn. College & Williams).
  • Cardinals Prepare For the 2019 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship

    GREENSBORO, N.C. – Six members of the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving program qualified for the 2019 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship, as announced by the NCAA on March 4th. The Championship will be held on March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina with The Old Dominion Athletic Conference as a co-host. The women's events will precede the men's events with trials beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day and finals taking place at 6:00 p.m. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete in the championships and NCAA.com will stream all sessions Wednesday through Saturday.
  • Two Individuals & Three Relay Teams Earn All-NESCAC Accolades

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Two individuals and all three relays of the Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team earned All-NESCAC honors for their performances in the pool this past weekend. Head coach Peter Solomon was also tabbed the 2019 NESCAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Co-Coach of the Year, for the second time in three years, along with Tufts’ head coach Adam Hoyt. Solomon guided his team to a program-best sixth place finish.
  • Wesleyan Records Program-Best Finish at NESCAC Championship, Solomon Named Co-Coach of the Year

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team came in sixth place in the 2019 NESCAC women’s swimming and diving championship with 899 points, earning its best finish at the conference meet in school history. Williams took home the crown for the sixth-straight year (1,873 points), while Tufts earned runner-up (1,439.5 points), while Amherst rounded out the top-three (1,322 points). 
  • Murphy Earns Second NESCAC Crown, 200 Medley Relay Records Runner-Up Honors

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The third day of the 2019 NESCAC women’s swimming and diving championship resumed on Saturday with preliminary heats at 10:00 a.m. and finals following at 6:00 p.m. At the end of the third day, the Cardinals sit in sixth place with 653 points, just 47 points behind fifth-place Connecticut College.

  • Women’s Swimming & Diving To Host NESCAC Championships This Weekend

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team has its sights set on moving up in the conference ranks this weekend when it hosts the 2019 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship. Williams is in pursuit of its sixth-straight conference crown and 18th overall when the four-day meet begins on Thursday, February 14th. Last season, Williams outdistanced the field with 1,971 points to win its fifth straight NESCAC title. Amherst (1,615) finished second and was followed by Connecticut College (1,060.5) in third. Tufts (1,023.5) and Bowdoin (998.5) rounded out the top five in the team standings. Bates (943), Middlebury (826) and Wesleyan (725) took places six through eight, respectively, while Trinity (443.5), Hamilton (382) and Colby (296) rounded out the field.
  • Cooper Earns Pair of First-Place Finishes on Senior Day

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. ? The Wesleyan women?s swimming and diving concluded its regular senior hosting a meet against Coast Guard, Connecticut College and Fairfield. The Cardinals fell to Coast Guard (382-261), Connecticut College (280-261) and Fairfield (394-261). Prior to the meet, head coach Peter Solomon and the Cardinals honored their six members of the Class of 2019 ? Erin Angell, Sophia Antonio, Devon Cooper, Julia Dietz, Kylie Han and Maela Whitcomb.

    BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team concluded the weekend with a 178-117 loss at Bowdoin on Sunday afternoon.

    WATERVILLE, Maine – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team earned a 157-143 victory over Colby on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals recorded 10 first-place finished during the meet.
  • Cardinals Sweep Tri-Meet Against Roger Williams & Springfield

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – After spending last week in Florida for a training trip, the Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team was back in the pool today. The Cardinals were victorious over both Roger Williams and Springfield, winning 188-95 and 150-138, respectively. The team recorded nine first-place finishes.
  • Wesleyan Opens 2019 With Win Against Hamilton

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team opened the year with a 183-94 victory over Hamilton on Saturday. The Cardinals were again led by Caroline Murphy and Mengmeng Gibbs as both were victorious in all four of their events.
  • Gibbs and Murphy Excel in First Semester Finale

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team hosted Tufts, Williams and WPI in its first semester finale on Saturday afternoon. Caroline Murphy and Mengmeng Gibbs led the charge for the Cardinals, highlighted by Murphy’s first-place finish in the 50-yard back. Wesleyan fell to Tufts (234-80), Williams (239-73) and WPI (169-145).
  • Women’s Swimming & Diving Records Seven First Place Finishes at CT Cup

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team hosted six schools in the Connecticut Cup on Saturday. The Connecticut College won the meet with 582 points, while the U.S. Coast Guard Academy placed second with 554 points and Wesleyan came in third with 388.
  • Women’s Swimming & Diving Entertains Amherst in Dual Meet

    MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – After a successful opening weekend, the Wesleyan women’s swimming and diving team hosted Little Three rival, No. 9 Amherst on Monday evening. The Cardinals fell to the Mammoths 165-120 during the dual meet.

  • Caleb Treadwell Named Wesleyan Assistant Swim Coach

    Caleb Treadwell has been hired as the new Wesleyan University Assistant Swimming Coach. Treadwell brings to the position a wealth of experience as both a Division III student-athlete and as a swim coach.
