The Lead: The No. 8 Wesleyan University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the year with a 7-2 win over No. 11 Washington University-St. Louis Wednesday in Claremont, Calif.

SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS:

  • In a matchup of two of the nation's top singles players, third-ranked Chong edged fourth-ranked Rebecca Ho in the No. 1 position by scores of 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).
  • Yu, ranked No. 15 in the country, cruised to wins of 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, and Budhiraja claimed No. 3 singles, 6-3 6-3.
  • McCann won a three-set thriller in No. 5 singles against Lisa Chionis. After dropping the first set, 6-4, she responded with wins of 7-6 (7-4) and 10-5.
