  • Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Praise; 10 Cardinals Named Scholar-Athletes

    On Tuesday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes, and the Wesleyan programs were well represented. Both squads were named All-Academic Teams while registering five Scholar-Athletes each.

    Eudice Chong of the Wesleyan University women's tennis team was named the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

    Victoria Yu ’19 of the Wesleyan women’s tennis team continues to add postseason accolades to her impressive resume as she named a First Team selection on the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
  • Three Cardinals Named ITA All-Americans

    Three members of the Wesleyan University tennis programs were named 2018 Division III All-Americans, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Eudice Chong ’18 and Victoria Yu ’19 received All-America laurels in both singles and doubles, while Steven Chen ’18 was honored for his singles play.

    Eudice Chong ’18 of the Wesleyan University women’s tennis team was named the 2018 Division III Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for Tennis as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda. This is the third-straight year Chong was honored with the nomination.

    Eudice Chong ’18 and Victoria Yu ’19 rolled through Day 1 of the NCAA Individual tournaments in impressive fashion on Thursday, with both advancing to the quarterfinals in singles and doubles without dropping a set along the way. The tournament, held in Claremont, Calif. at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, was delayed in the morning due to rain, but despite unseasonably chilly temperatures, Wesleyan finished the day as the only team with two singles players and a doubles pair remaining.

  • Historic Women's Tennis Season Ends in Elite Eight as Cardinals Fall to Middlebury, 5-2

    Wesleyan’s best season in program history ended on Monday in the NCAA quarterfinals, as the No. 5 Cardinals fell to No. 4 Middlebury in a tightly contested match hosted at Pomona-Pitzer. It was the third meeting between the two teams in the past month, and despite the final score being 5-2 this time around, it was the tightest match of the three, with both teams finding a new level from their previous encounters.

  • Women's Tennis Prepares for NCAA Quarterfinals Against Middlebury

    For the first time in program history, the fifth-ranked Wesleyan University women’s tennis team has advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championships and will play No. 4 Middlebury on Monday, May 21 at 6 p.m. ET in Claremont, Calif. The winner advances to the semifinals on Tuesday with the championship match scheduled for Wednesday. Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges will serve as this year’s host.

    For the first time in program history, the Wesleyan University women's tennis team is heading to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division III Championships. The Cardinals booked their trip to the championship site in Claremont, Calif. with a 5-1 win over No. 9 Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, winning a key doubles point at No. 3 to a take a 2-1 lead.

  • Eudice Chong '18 Earns Third NESCAC Player of the Year Award

    Senior Eudice Chong of the fifth-ranked Wesleyan University women’s tennis team has been named the 2018 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, while junior Victoria Yu earned First Team All-NESCAC in doubles and Second Team All-NESCAC in singles. For Chong, the Player of the Year award marks her second consecutive and third overall, becoming just the second player in conference history to earn the award three times.
  • Women's Tennis Earns Third Consecutive NCAA At-Large Bid

    For the third consecutive season, the Wesleyan University women’s tennis team will compete in the national postseason tournament as the fifth-ranked Cardinals earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships. Wesleyan will face the winner of Hope and John Carroll in the Second Round on either Friday, May 11 or Saturday, May 12 on the campus of St. John Fisher. Game time and date to be determined.

    The third-seeded Wesleyan University women’s tennis team was edged by the No. 2 seed, Middlebury College, in the semifinals of the 2018 NESCAC Women’s Tennis Championships, 5-3, on Saturday morning at Amherst College.

    The Wesleyan University women’s tennis team returns to the NESCAC Semifinals for the second time in the past three seasons after defeating Bowdoin College in the First Round Friday morning, 5-2, inside the Enfield Tennis Club.
  • Women's Tennis Earns Highest Seeding Ever at NESCAC Championships

    The nationally-ranked No. 5 Wesleyan women's tennis team has earned the No. 3 seed in the 2018 NESCAC Women's Tennis Championships. Play begins on Friday, May 4 with first-round contests between No. 4 Tufts and No. 5 Amherst, and No. 3 Wesleyan and No. 6 Bowdoin, both matches scheduled for 9 a.m. The winners will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, May 5 and the championship match is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 6.
  • Women's Tennis Sweeps Colby on Senior Day, 9-0

    All four of the Wesleyan University women’s tennis seniors were winners as part of the Cardinals’ 9-0 victory over Colby College on Saturday, which also marked the end of their regular season and Senior Day for Eudice Chong, Aashli Budhiraja, Helen Klass-Warch, and Nicole McCann.
  • Women's Tennis Rolls Past Connecticut College, 8-1

    The No. 5 Wesleyan University women's tennis team flew past Connecticut College on Wednesday, topping the Camels 8-1 for its tenth win of the season to improve to 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the NESCAC. With the loss, Conn. College dropped to 3-8 and 1-5.
  • No. 5 Women's Tennis Edged by No. 4 Middlebury, 6-3

    In a matchup of top-five teams, visiting Middlebury College defeated the Wesleyan University women’s tennis team, 6-3 on Sunday, proving too strong at the bottom of the lineup. The Cardinals were led by senior Eudice Chong and junior Victoria Yu, who combined for all three of Wesleyan’s points. 
  • Strong Start Propels Women's Tennis to 7-2 Win Over No. 8 Amherst

    The No. 5 Wesleyan University women’s tennis team took a commanding lead early on by winning the first five matches en route to a 7-2 victory over Little Three rival and No. 8 Amherst College. The Cardinals swept doubles play and claimed straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 4 singles to grab the early 5-0 lead.

    The Wesleyan University women’s tennis was was solid from start to finish on Wednesday afternoon, cruising past No. 27 Bates, 9-0. The midweek encounter took place on a chilly spring day at Wesleyan’s new outdoor tennis courts, where the Cardinals are undefeated so far.
  • No. 5 Women''s Tennis Earns 6-3 Win Over No. 6 Tufts
    April 14, 2018
    The No. 5 Wesleyan University women’s tennis team defeated No. 6 Tufts University, 6-3, in its first-ever match at the new Wesleyan Tennis Courts to bring its record to 7-1 this spring. The match was immediately preceded by the official court dedication ceremony, and thanks to the ceremony as well as the pleasant weather, it was perhaps the best attended home match for Wesleyan in program history.
