Wesleyan Finishes Second in the Little Three Track and Field Meet

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University track and field team competed in the Little Three Indoor Meet against Williams College and Amherst College Saturday afternoon at Bacon-Field House, and finished second behind Williams.

Williams won the meet with 168.50 points followed by Wesleyan with 98.50 and Amherst with 67.

In track events, freshman Allegra Fils-Aime highlighted the day for Wesleyan with a first-place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.75. Senior Alexis Walker finished the 60 meter dash in second-place with a time of 8.10, and sophomore Aida Julien took second in the 800 meter run with a mark of 2:26.91.

The 400 meter dash saw sophomore Sarah Swenson come in third-place with a time of 1:00.94, while the 600 meter run featured a third-place finish from freshman Jenny Aguilar (1:41.72). Freshman Katie Maehl also picked up a third-place finish for Wesleyan as she completed the 60 meter hurdle in a time of 10.42.

In relay events, the Cardinals captured first-place in the 4x400 with the team of Swenson, Subrahmanian, freshman Alexandra Dibrindisis and Aguiar. The quartet finished with a time of 4:04.98. The 4x800 team, which consisted of Julien, freshmen Isabella Reilly and Claudia Schatz, and senior Syndey Cogswell, finished second overall with a time of 10:34.24

Walker highlighted the day for Wesleyan in field events and took the long jump title with a mark of 5.23m.

Senior Kiley Kennedy tied for second place in the pole vault with a mark or 3.05m, and Fils-Aime took third place in the triple jump with a mark of 10.76m.

The Cardinals captured second and third place in the shot put event as well, with senior Ellie MKatie Maehlg in second with a throw of 8.91m, and freshman Katie Maehl coming in third with a throw of 8.37m.

Wesleyan will return to action Saturday Jan. 23 at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational, which begins at 11 a.m.
