Cardinals Track and Field Compete at DIII New England Finals

MIDDLEBURY, Vt./CAMBRIDGE Mass. - The Wesleyan University men's women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Division III New England Finals over the weekend. The women came in 11th place, while the men came in 24th.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Ananya Subrahmanyan '18 came in fourth place in the 400m dash with a finals time of 59.25. Sarah Swenson '18 followed in 9th place with a time of 1:00.23.
  • Jenny Aguiar '19 took home first place in the 600m run, crossing the line with a time of 1:36.14. 
  • In the 3000m run, Christina Hebner '17 crossed the line in eighth place with a time of 10:32.18. She was followed in ninth place by teammate Julia Mitchell '19 who crossed the line with a time of 10:34.35.
  • The Wesleyan 4x400 relay team comprised of Swenson, Aguiar, Subrahmanyan and Alexandra Dibrindisi '19 crossed the line in fourth place with a mark of 4:04.92.
  • Alexis Walker '16 took home second place in the long jump with a finals mark of 5.57m.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS 
  • In the weight throw, Agbon Edomwonyi '16 finished in ninth place with a finals throw of 15.44m.

  • Both teams will compete at the Open New England Championships on Fri. Feb 26. The event will be held at Boston University.
