Five Cardinals Compete in Open New England Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Five members of the Wesleyan University women's track and field team competed in the two-day Open New England Championships, which were hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The 3,000 meter steeplechase saw Christina Hebner '17 finish in third place in her section with a time of 11:29.93. That mark would be good enough to finish 15th overall.
  • Molly Schassberger '17 claimed sixth place in the 10,000 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 37:54.18. Joie Akerson '17 crossed the line in 19th place with a mark of 40:25.04.
  • In the 5,000 meter run, Caroline Elmendorf '17 finished in 13th place with a time of 17:54.97. Teammate Julia Mitchell finished two places behind in 15th, crossing the line with a time of 18:01.63.

UP NEXT

  • The Cardinals will return to the track for the two-day ECAC Championships, which will be held on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20 on the campus of Westfield State College.
