MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan University women's track & field team compiled four top-two finishes during the Tufts Snowflake Classic on Saturday, as the Cardinals finished sixth overall with 50 points out of 22 teams in Medford, Mass.
Tufts finished first overall with a score of 187, while Trinity (88.50) and Connecticut College (64) placed in the No. 2 and 3 slots, respectively.
Senior Ananya Subrahmanian took home first-place honors out of 56 runners during the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.75, while junior Allegra Fils-Aime earned a runner-up finish during the event (1:00.09).
During the 4x400m relay, juniors Jenny Aguiar and Alex Dibrindisi, along with freshman Anne Peartree and Subrahmanian garnered first-place accolades with a time of 3:58.66, clearing second place by a comfortable margin of 14.94 seconds.
Junior Julia Mitchell led the charge in the 5,000m, as she was the Cardinals' top-finisher with a time of 17:49.10, which was good for second overall out of 39 competitors. Sophomore Sara Pinsonault (18:32.42) and freshman Emma Trapani (18:47.63) also performed well in the event, grabbing sixth- and ninth-place honors, respectively.
Peartree, who hails from McLean, Va., was the fourth-place performer in the 400m hurdles (1:09.27), and sophomore Tara Peng finished in the sixth slot during the pole vault (2.95).
In the 1,500m run, freshman Becky Lopez-Anido was Wesleyan's first-place finisher, as she placed eighth overall, clocking a time of 4:51.91. Junior Katie Maehl performed well in the high jump, collecting eighth-place acknowledgement with a mark of 1.54.
The Cardinals will compete in the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday at Amherst College.
