Women's Track & Field Excels at Amherst Spring Fling

AMHERST, Mass. – The Wesleyan University women's track & field team produced two first-place finishes and several top-eight performances during the Amherst Spring Fling meet on Saturday.

Becky Lopez-Anido '21 excelled in the 800-meter run, finishing with a time of 2:19.96, the only finisher to break 2:20. Middlebury's Lucy Lang snagged second in 2:23.66.

Wesleyan's other event winner was Tara Peng '20, as she won the pole vault (3.10m).

Alex Dibrindisi '19 put forth a sixth-place effort in the 200m, clocking a 27.05. In the 1,500m, Julia Mitchell '19 raced to a 4:53.23, finishing fifth in the event.

First-year Camille Balicki recorded a fifth-place finish in the shot put (9.79m), and Sydney Forrest '20 was fourth in the triple jump (9.83m).

Wesleyan finished second in the 4x800m relay (10:00.98), while adding another second-place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:16.40).

Next weekend, track and field is back in action at the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, Conn., from April 13-14.
