Women’s Track & Field Tallies Two Top-Seven Efforts at Open New England Championship

HANOVER, N.H. – For the fourth time during the 2018 season, sophomore Sara Pinsonault of the Wesleyan University women's track & field team broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:59.68 during a fifth-place finish in the event at the Open New England Championship on Friday and Saturday at Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.  

The Cardinals finished in a tie for 27th overall out of 39 teams, while Northeastern won the event with 121 points, and Dartmouth (99.62) and UMass Amherst (86.5) rounded out the top-three.

Freshman Becky Lopez-Anido performed admirably in the 800m, finishing 19th overall with a time of 2:14.62. The Orono, Maine native holds the school record in the 800m (2:14.32), which she established at the 2018 NESCAC Championship on April 28.

During the 10,000m, freshman Emma Trapani grabbed seventh-place honors, clocking a time of 38:12.10, while junior Jenny Aguiar placed 10th overall out of 30 runners with a time of 57.61 in the 400m.
